Treasure Island, San Francisco CA

Facing San Francisco’s majestic waterfront and skyline, Treasure Island will be the Bay Area’s newest place to live and exemplary sustainable and climate change resilient development in the world. Shaped by local natural forces, the master plan lays out a signature grid and pattern designed to protect from prevailing winds and create streets filled with sunlight. Alternative transportation and minimized car usage are central to the plan focusing on ferry/transit node connected to an extensive network of pedestrian and bike friendly streets serving most of the 8000 planned units in a 10-minute walk. The dynamic urban form defines series of distinctive neighborhoods capturing panoramic views and with plentiful access to 290 acres of open space. Sustainability goals and strategies include a compact development footprint occupying less than 50% of the site, on-site stormwater treatment, and minimized energy consumption.
